Intermediate Defensive Shotgun Skills

Great group of guys for our Intermediate Defensive Shotgun class yesterday. The shotgun is a fun platform to run and is loaded with capability.

We started with a cold open drill doing combat reloads, then confirmed patterning to establish our baseline. Then we worked through some hammer drills to get stance and marksmanship set.

After that we spent time optimizing the combat reload, ready up positions, shell changes, and pistol transitions. We tested out the time it took to combat reload vs transition to pistol.

Then we worked out pivots, turns, and using cover and concealment, which requires some different considerations given the heavier recoil. We also worked on short stocking when the threat is extremely close. Then we wrapped with some slug work at distance.

To make things extra special, we awarded 2 students with our defender challenge coin for reaching 10 total classes with us. They are the 4th and 5th recipients of the award. Congrats and thanks for trusting us with your training!
